Creative Time NYC, the Sullivan Galleries, and the Campaign to Close Tamms

Creative Time Reports, “a global leader in publishing the unflinching and provocative perspectives of artists on the most challenging issues of our times,” published an in-depth feature by Laurie Jo Reynolds (MFA 2000) and Stephen F. Eisenman on May 6 about the Tamms Year Ten campaign to close the Tamms supermax prison in Illinois. The prison closed on January 4, 2013. Carefully outlining the background and history of the campaign, the authors cover SAIC’s participation in the project. “For much of the last year, the Tamms Year Ten office and its documents were showcased as an exhibition in the Sullivan Galleries at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.” The article also highlights the significance of the Sullivan Galleries as “the hub for the campaign to close the supermax.”
