Chicago Reader Highlights TY10 Campaign Office At Sullivan Galleries

The October 4 edition of the Chicago Reader highlighted the Sullivan Galleries project Tamms Ten Year Campaign Office (TY10). Since 2008, TY10 has petitioned Illinois legislators to reform or abolish Tamms Correctional Center—the state’s only supermax facility where prisoners are held in solitary confinement. From October 4 through December 21, TY10’s headquarters have relocated to SAIC’s Sullivan Galleries. Organizer and artist Laurie Jo Renolds (MFA 2000) works at a desk within the exhibition space. The exhibition also includes portraits of inmates taken in 2008 during TY10’s first campaign. Captions detail the statuses of those pictured, listing release dates and "crosses and death dates for those who have died."
