Chicago Media Eagerly Anticipate SAIC’s “Fashion Extravaganza”
On March 11 Crain’s Chicago Business highlighted SAIC’s upcoming fashion show and fundraiser The Walk. Detailing his hectic spring schedule of fundraisers and galas, longstanding member of SAIC’s fashion committee Greg Cameron, chief operating officer of WTTW-TV/Channel 11 and WFMT-FM/98.7, called the fashion affair “one of the most exciting events of the year.” Guests at The Walk "are beautiful and glamorous—it's when you see a little bit of New York in Chicago," he says. "Seeing the creativity of the students makes it unlike any other event." In recent years, Cameron has attended the event in attire custom designed by SAIC faculty member Nick Cave (Fashion), a tradition he says he hopes to continue in the future. This year, SAIC will honor veteran Chicago philanthropist and WTTW contributor Melissa Sage Fadim with the Heart of Fashion Award."I so respect her and the commitment she's made to the school," Cameron says.
Two days later, Chicago Sun Times columnist Bill Zwecker covered The Walk in his column on page 30 of the publication’s March 12 edition. “Designers Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte will be the recipients of the Legend of Fashion Award at SAIC’s Fashion 2013 extravaganza, including the 79th annual fashion show on Millennium Park’s Chase Promenade,” he announced, and also noted the forthcoming award for Sage Fadim.
