Chicago Architecture More Fun Than Ever
On December 7 faculty member Peter J. Exley (Architecture, Interior Architecture, and Designed Objects) was named the new President of AIA Chicago, the Chicago component of the American Institute of Architects. He was elected to the position after serving on the AIA’s Executive Committee. “Chicago is the epicenter of Modern Architecture and home to major architectural schools. We are front and center in developing momentum for sustainability and the AIA’s 2030 net zero program,” Exley says. “The scale of practice and work produced by Chicago architects is recognized internationally. There is something brewing here. It’s about being relevant, meaningful, and cool.” Exley founded the Chicago architecture film Architecture Is Fun with his wife, Sharon Exley in 1994. He is also the organizer of PechaKucha Night Chicago, a public networking forum for designers.
