Arts Writers Grant Program Honors Pair of SAIC Writers
On December 3 the Creative Capital | Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grants Program announced the recipients of its prestigious 2012 grants. A pair of SAIC community members, SAIC faculty member Daniel Quiles (Art History, Theory, and Criticism) and alumna Meg Onli (BFA 2008), were among the select few. Quiles is one of three writers selected for the Articles category, honored for his forthcoming piece, Counterpublic Access: ‘The Live! Show’ and ‘TV Party,’ 1978–1984. Onli, creator of the Black Visual Archive (BVA), is among just four recipients in the blog category. In its 2012 cycle, the program has awarded a total of $623,500 to 21 writers. Ranging from $8,000 to $50,000 in four categories—articles, blogs, books, and short-form writing—these grants support projects addressing both general and specialized art audiences, from scholarly studies to self-published blogs.
