Architecture Students Win Major Scholarship from Global Design Firm

On August 21 Gensler, the global design firm with offices in Chicago and 43 other locations, awarded SAIC students Ebere Okparaeke (MArch 2014) and Dante Wilkins (MArch 2014) its fifth annual Diversity Scholarship. The juried scholarship program recognizes emerging talent among African-American college students enrolled in an accredited architecture program. Okparaeke and Wilkins will receive an academic scholarship as well as an internship with Gensler. “I’m proud to represent a growing population of African-Americans in the architecture and design field,” said Wilkins. Okparaeke adds, “Winning this scholarship is a great honor. It means that the hard work throughout my years in school... will be worth it in the end, because someone out there believes in me and I completely appreciate that.”
