Alumnus’s Photos Unveil A Mythical Reality
SAIC alumnus Mel Theobald (BFA 1968, MFA 1971) will continue Purdue University North Central’s Year of the Photographer series with the solo exhibition A Mythical Reality. An article published by the Northwest Indiana Times on December 30 states the exhibition will feature 23 photographs created through lightjet technologies, “which preserve details of architecture and environment in extreme detail.” The publication also highlights the photographer’s achievements in the field of art history. “Theobald was involved in the identification and recovery of many noted works of mostly early 20th century Russian art which had been ‘sorted’ and abandoned in warehouses in Russia,” the article states. “He was instrumental in returning and rescuing works which had been stolen and sold on the illegal market worldwide.” A Mythic Reality runs from January 11 through May 15.
