Alumna Kate Dumbleton Praised as Director of Upcoming Jazz Festival

On September 27 Chicago Tribune Arts Critic Howard Reich showcased plans for the upcoming Hyde Park Jazz Festival. The sixth annual festival will be different from years past, explains Reich, mostly due the addition of Logan Center, which will serve as “a kind of anchor” between different venues. Reich sees changes made under SAIC alumna and festival director Kate Dumbleton (MA 2008) as indicators of potential growth and future success. “With Dumbleton on contract as its director this year,” he states, “the festival has at its helm an arts visionary who could help build the event into a year-round presenting organization.” Dumbleton also discusses the upcoming event in an interview aired by WBEZ on September 27.
