Alum Named Commander of the 22nd Ward

On September 3 the Beverly Review announced the appointment of SAIC alum Lt. Daniel Godsel (BFA 1998) to Commander of Chicago’s 22nd District. Godsel, a 21-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department, is currently serving as acting Commander of the district following the retirement of Commander James Gibson in August. His official appointment is expected in the near future. “My big focus is to make inroads with the community,” he says. “The goal is always to have zero crime; even though it’s not completely realistic, that’s the goal we’ll be working toward.” Godsel is also an accomplished painter who has been featured in numerous Chicago newspapers and juried exhibitions.
