Due to extreme weather, classes and events on the SAIC campus are canceled Monday, January 27, beginning at 8:00 p.m. until Tuesday, January 28, at 12:00 p.m.

With the exception of the residence halls, which will remain open as usual, all other buildings on the SAIC’s campus will close at 9:00 p.m., and re-open on Tuesday at 12:00 p.m.

If you have a class scheduled Tuesday 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., you are expected to arrive in class by 1:00 p.m., unless you are informed otherwise by your instructor.

Classes held from 9:00–12:00 p.m. on Tuesday will be made up at a later date.  Any students with questions about attendance should contact their instructors directly.

Please remember that Add/Drop will end on Wednesday, February 5, as previously scheduled. However, special consideration will be given for students requesting scheduling changes who were affected by the closure.

Cafés will close at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 27, and will be open at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 28, for lunch.

Thank you for your attention and please continue to exercise caution during this period of extreme weather.

Information for Employees

During the closure, all employees who have been designated as essential personnel will be required to report to work as scheduled, and all hourly staff who are required to work will be paid time and a half during the closure. If an employee is not required to work during the closing, he or she will be paid for any time they were scheduled to work, similar to other closures. Employees who had previously scheduled to take PTO will not be required to use their PTO but will be paid for their regularly scheduled shift.
