Promoting Diversity

Multicultural Affairs promotes diversity for the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) community through programs, services, and institutional initiatives. The department provides support, advocacy, and mediation for students, particularly as they relate to issues of inclusivity, representation, and empowerment. We also assist the SAIC community in connecting with the rich cultural tapestry of Chicago, which further enhances our diverse experiences and backgrounds.

Panel Discussion:
Controversy, Community, and Curriculum

Please join Rashayla Brown (BFA 2013) and other members of the student group Black at SAIC for a special faculty and student panel discussion titled "Controversy, Community, and Curriculum."  

This conversation will center around the unique role of the artist in addressing power dynamics, how controversy can affect an artistic community, and why critical consciousness of diversity and inclusion should become part of the curriculum.
