Art Institute of Chicago

Chicagoans are proud of their world-famous institutions.

These include the Art Institute of Chicago, the DuSable Museum of African-American History, the Field Museum of Natural History, the National Museum of Mexican Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Adler Planetarium. Each is within walking distance or a short bus ride from the SAIC. But every resident has dozens of smaller reasons to love the city: a delicate tile mural over the entrance of a Loop building, a cramped blues club on the South Side, a late-night performance at a storefront theatre, or a cutting-edge gallery in Pilsen.
