The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) follows a credit/no credit grading system and records all courses for which students register on their permanent records.

The following grade symbols are used to denote credit status:

CR Credit
NCR No Credit
W Withdrawal
INC Incomplete
IP Thesis In Progress
NR Grade Not Reported by Instructor

Undergraduate and non-degree-seeking students must achieve at least average performance in the course (the traditional grade equivalent of a C) in order to earn CR (credit). Graduate students must achieve the traditional grade equivalent of a B or better in order to earn CR (credit).

GRADUATION RATE

The Student Right-to-Know Act mandates that all institutions disclose their graduation rate, the percentage of first-time freshmen who graduate within six years of starting their studies. The current rate for SAIC is 60 percent. This information does not include transfer, exchange, or special certificate students for whom the graduation rate is much higher.
