Follow the steps below to get the most valuable advice and guidance from your meeting with your academic advisor:

1. Gather some work (e.g., writing samples, slides, other work) to show your academic advisor. This will help your advisor get to know you and provide personalized feedback.

2.  Review your degree audit online through the SAIC Self-Service. In Self-Service go to Academics > Academic Records > View Degree Progress Report. This will help you better understand your degree requirements and come up with questions for your advisor.

3. Review the available courses through SAIC Self-Service, our online course search, via hard copy at the Registrar’s office.

4. Review Faculty Course Evaluations (in the advising office) to read student feedback (for preregistration appointments) so you have an idea of the courses you want to take.

5. Make a list of questions—come prepared, think about what you want to discuss with your academic advisor.

Because SAIC's curriculum is complex, we strongly encourage you to also review your degree audit in person with an Academic Advisor.
