2015–16 Laptop Program and Orientation Information

All incoming undergraduate students, with the exception of second-degree students, are required to have an Apple MacBook Pro laptop computer that meets or exceeds minimum specifications

The 2015–16 Laptop Program recommended model is an Apple MacBook Pro Retina 13” 2.9 GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor with 512GB PCIe-based flash storage, 8 GB memory, and three-year AppleCare Protection Plan.

You can purchase your laptop through any Apple Store, online through the Apple Store for Education, or any Apple Authorized retailer.

PLEASE NOTE: The new 12-inch MacBook (early 2015) does NOT meet SAIC requirement.

To ensure that you receive an educational discount along with the correct equipment and AppleCare warranty, you should purchase your Laptop Program recommendations at the Apple Store. You will need to print out our Laptop Purchase Checklist and take it to the Apple Store along with your SAIC ARTICard. Make sure to take your SAIC ID (or other proof of enrollment) so you can receive the special student pricing.

Once you have your laptop, you will need to attend our brief Laptop Program orientation session, which will be held during New Student Orientation in the MacLean Center. To prepare for the session, please make sure your laptop is fully charged, and you have activated your ARTIC Account.

If You Already Own a Laptop from the Apple Store or Any Other Source

Please email laptop@saic.edu with the serial number of your laptop, so we can verify that your laptop meets minimum specifications and can access all the resources SAIC has to offer.

Once your laptop has been approved, you will need to attend our Laptop Program orientation session, which will be held during New Student Orientation in the MacLean Center.

To prepare for the session, please make sure your laptop is fully charged, and you have activated your ARTIC Account.
