If you have not yet purchased a laptop
All incoming undergraduate students, with the exception of second-degree students, are required to enroll in the SAIC Laptop Program. You have two options for participating in the program:
- Purchase a laptop through the Apple Store; or
- Apply for a waiver stating that you have or will purchase a laptop on your own which meets our minimum requirements.
Purchase a laptop through the Apple Store
To ensure that you receive an educational discount along with the correct equipment and AppleCare warranty, you should purchase your Laptop Program package at the Apple Store.
We have made arrangements with the Apple Store near SAIC (679 North Michigan Avenue) to stock the complete laptop package. However, you should also be able to purchase those same items at any Apple Store by following the instructions below.
You will need to print out our Laptop Program Checklist and take it to the Apple Store along with your SAIC ID card or enrollment agreement. Make sure to take your SAIC ID or enrollment agreement so you can receive the special student pricing.
Please note that we can only guarantee availability of the complete laptop package at our nearby Apple Store, so if you plan to purchase from another Apple Store, we recommend contacting them in advance to make sure they have all items from the checklist in stock.
Once you have your laptop, you will need to attend our brief Laptop Program orientation session which will be held during New Student Orientation on Wednesday, January 21 at the MacLean Center. To prepare for the session, please make sure your laptop is fully charged, and you have activated your ARTIC Account.
