Grants: Faculty Enrichment Grants
2018–19 Faculty Enrichment Grants requests are due Monday, March 5, 2018.
SAIC will distribute $100,000 as individual Faculty Enrichment Grants, from $500 to $5,000, for use in 2018–19 to support faculty's professionally-related project development, creative endeavors, research and scholarship, conference presentations, residencies, and travel.
- Full-time tenured, tenure-track, and part-time faculty currently teaching in the degree program
- Joint-faculty projects are considered and should be submitted as one application
- Maximum award of $5,000
- Faculty on sabbatical or paid leave in 2018–19 are encouraged to apply
SAIC makes every effort to conscientiously and equitably distribute awards from the requests received. Selections are based on the merit of the proposal, especially those that propose to complete a specific project or produce new works. Conference-related expenses are only considered if the applicant is presenting.
Priority consideration is given to applicants who have actively contributed to the School community. Other considerations include the applicant's record of professional achievements, length of tenure at the institution, annual teaching load, and their history of previous awards from SAIC.
Grants are not awarded to cover tuition costs at any institution, equipment purchases, or publications for exhibitions or events. Grants for expenses associated with research for potential courses are generally not considered.
Given the limited funding, the School typically underwrites only a portion of the requested amount. Applicants are strongly encouraged to consider additional sources of support to fully realize their projects.
By or before Monday, March 5, 2018, email 3 documents, formatted as PDFs (25 MB or less), to email@example.com using the naming convention of "Last Name_Document Name.pdf":
- Summary (Smith_Summary.pdf): Name, rank, department, hire date, and 25-word summary of proposal
- FEG Proposal and Budget (Smith_FEG_Proposal.pdf): One- to two-page description of project and its relevance to your practice, including the potential for completed works or outcomes. Include a single-page budget outline
- CV (Smith_CV.pdf): Current résumé or curriculum vitae
Review and Selection
All submissions are reviewed by members of the Deans Selection Committee, which includes the Deans, and elected full-time and part-time faculty representatives. Individual recipients are contacted via SAIC email in April.
For use from July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019. Funds are not distributed prior to July, and cannot be used for projects that have already occurred. Awards not claimed by June 30, 2019 are forfeited.
Note: All Faculty Enrichment Grants are distributed as one-time-Payments, dispersed through regular payroll. Recipients will be sent a one-time-payment request form to sign and return. The grant amount is then added to regular payroll in four to six weeks. Since the award is subject to regular payroll taxes, recipients are encouraged to keep records and receipts of associated expenses to submit with their individual year-end tax return.
