Code of Freaks is a feature-length documentary that critiques Hollywood representations of disabled characters by giving the mic to some of Hollywood’s most incensed and ignored critics – actual disabled people. Code of the Freaks is directed by Salome Chasnoff, a faculty member in the SAIC Art Education Program.

Visiting artist for this work-in-progress screening is Carrie Sandahl, one of the film’s writer-producers. Sandahl is an Associate Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago in the Department of Disability and Human Development. She directs Chicago’s Bodies of Work, an organization that supports the development of disability arts and culture. Her research and creative activity focus on disability identity in live performance and film.
