YAS offers a wide selection of courses for children ages 3 - 6th grade. Courses are offered in 5- and 10-week sessions. Students can enroll in consecutive 5-week sessions in the same subject area without repeating lessons. Courses range from multi-disciplinary approaches to creativity to more focused courses in drawing, painting, and sculpture. Classes make frequent visits to the Art Institute of Chicago museum to gain inspiration and motivation for the creation of their own artwork. Faculty members are professional educators and/or practicing artists who deliver exceptional and engaging lessons in the artistically stimulating environment of SAIC and the galleries of The Art Institute.
