Meaning and Making are Inseparable

Each of our six undergraduate degrees develops a sustained, structured dialogue between thinking and making. At the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), you will thrive in an educational environment fueled by collaboration and critical thinking.

The creative dialogue nurtured through the critique process will help you hone and expand your own vision. Understanding the way your fellow students think and create will introduce you to ideas and processes that you find relevant to your own work.

SAIC expects you to think beyond the classroom and to consider creative work in the context of communities outside SAIC. Our off-campus study requirement ensures that you have the opportunity to gain practical, professional experience while gaining a broader sense of society and the world.

We are an exciting and innovative community of creative thinkers—asking questions of ourselves and each other.
