Study Abroad/Off-Campus: Prague and Vienna: The Studio in Central Europe
June 24–July 13, 2013 *Note: Dates and itinerary subject to change
The program begins in Vienna with an introduction to Central European culture and history. As the cultural and intellectual capital of an empire that included Prague, Vienna is necessary for a full understanding of Prague and the region as a whole. The rest of the program is based in Prague for the development of studio projects and research papers.
After an intensive program of museum visits, site visits, and lectures, students focus on individual studio projects and research papers in the second half of the trip. We visit the prestigious Academy of Fine Arts in Prague and work in collaboration with local Czech Artists Igor Korpacewski and Veronika Bromová. Czech art students from the academy are also available to participate in any collaborative projects. Final studio projects will be presented at a public exhibition in a Prague gallery or exhibition space at the end of the program.
Because of SAIC’s long established program in Prague and Vienna, our many contacts and collaborations with Czech artists and students make this program a true and deep immersion in the art scene and the culture of Central Europe.
