Study Abroad/Off-Campus: Abandoned Practices Institute in Prague 2013

This 3-week summer intensive looks forward by looking backward, researching, enacting, and embodying practices that for one reason or another have been disregarded in the wake of progress, and relegated to the archives of history. This is the second year the course will be located in Prague, in the Czech Republic, with an urban classroom and an inexhaustible catalogue of abandoned practices and endangered uses. Students will participate in individual and collaborative projects involving writing, installation, documentation, and the live performance. Teachers and visiting scholars will lecture on related subjects.
Credits SAIC students: 3 credits STUDIO (4000 level)
Credits non-SAIC students: Abandoned Practices Institute is also available for non-credit registration to participants outside of SAIC. If you are interested in this option see abandonedpractices.org

Program fee: Approx. $2,200 (including accommodation, breakfasts, most ground transport; not including airfare).

Undergraduate–$1,278 per credit hour
Graduate–$1,356 per credit hour
Airfare:
Budget at least $1,500 for airfare if flying from the United States. (Note this is only an estimated figure. Actual fare will depend on many variables including airline, number of stopovers, exchange rate fluctuations, ports of departure and return, and date of ticket purchase).
