A Chicago native, Sadie Woods has had an exciting career as a sound artist, deejay, and curator, showcasing her talents everywhere from nightclubs to museums. For her Halloween performance at the ROCK installation, Woods will aggregate children's playground songs from the Smithsonian Folkway collection, playing musical selections that include themes of children's culture and ritual magic. sadiewoods.com Soundcloud Mixcloud
To close the performance, a tea light installation will be set up surrounding the rocks.
Designed by Kunlé Adeyemi as part of the Chicago Architecture Biennial, ROCK will be a pop-up pavilion—a public sculpture—that will eventually be installed in Montrose Beach.
Public programming for ROCK is created by Kate Dumbleton, Jameson Paige, Asha Veal Brisebois, Emily Monasterio, Minghui Huang, Gloria Wang, Paulina Budzioch from the SAIC Arts Administration and Policy program. The event is produced in partnership with The Earl & Brenda Shapiro Center for Research and Collaboration at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
