The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) offers every member of the SAIC community free access to a variety of equipment and services for the creation, documentation, teaching, and exhibition of media artwork.

The department of Instructional Resources and Facilities Management (IRFM), meets the needs of students and faculty primarily through the operation of digital video editing facilities, smart classrooms equipped with state-of-the-art presentation technology, well-equipped wood and metal shops, technical support for exhibitions and events, and installation of media systems across campus.

Most visible to the SAIC community is the operation of three Media Centers—media equipment circulation centers from which students, staff and faculty may obtain access to thousands of audiovisual resources.
