The SAIC Materials Source (formally Resale) centers are your creative supply source, helping you get the materials you need to create your art.  Our inventory serves curricular and facility needs throughout the School’s many departments. We also provide convenience and introductory items to help you explore the variety of art making processes SAIC facilities support.

ARTICard is the only accepted form of payment.

Hours listed are for regular fall and spring semesters and are subject to change. Summer and Winter hours will be posted at each location.  We are generally closed all days classes are not in session.

The MacLean Vending Machine

The MacLean vending machine is on the eighth floor of the MacLean building, near the end of the main hallway.

It provides 24 hour access to Flash Drives, Memory Cards, CDs, DVDs, Prototype Boards, and other basic Electronics Components.

Materials Source Policies  

  • The SAIC Materials Source Centers only stock items listed on the price list. We are happy to provide you with vendor contact information for other materials.
  • Returns and Exchanges are welcome and require the following:
    • Your original receipt.  This is necessary due to how our sales and payment systems work.  A valid receipt consists of two parts: an itemized receipt from our point of sale system and an ARTICard receipt.  The receipt must include the item you are returning.
    • Your Articard.  Funds can only be returned to your Articard.
    • The Product you are returning.  The item/s must be unopened, unused, and otherwise in the same condition purchased.
    • Some returns may require the presence of a staff member. In these cases, we’d like to inform you that the return may take longer to complete.
    • Certain items that are non-returnable:  Personal protective equipment, items cut by customer after purchase, certain cut to size materials.
    • All items must be returned at the same location they were purchased.
  • Items purchased through Materials Source with a pick ticket should be removed as soon as possible.
    • Materials Source is not responsible for unclaimed purchases.
  • The SAIC Materials Source Center cannot assist with the transportation, cutting, or storage of items after purchase.
  • The Sharp Materials Source Center is open the whole school, but please note that the Sharp Instructional Shop is exclusively for the use of Contemporary Practices students.
  • The Sullivan Materials Source Center is open the whole school, but please note that the Sullivan Fabrication Studio is exclusively for the use of students enrolled in AIADO classes.
