Master of Arts in Arts Administration and Policy: Upcoming Program Changes
SAIC's Master of Arts in Arts Administration and Policy (MAAAP) program is launching a new curricular development in Fall 2013.
MAAAP's new Management Studio is a project-based environment that will provide opportunities for engaging in the management practices that are vital to professional success. Projects will range in scope, scale, pace, and goals and will be determined through a combination of student-driven selection, faculty teaching goals, and network development across SAIC, locally, nationally, and internationally.
You will:
- Build skills in the areas of marketing, organizational management, project management, and fundraising.
- Develop individual strategies and approaches to managing change and adapting to unique challenges; supporting and engaging creativity; leading complex environments; and building and understanding networks and connectivity.
The Management Studio will occur over the course of two or three semesters for a total of 9 credits. Project environments will move in and out of the classroom, and the organizational structure will be adaptive to each particular project. There is also a multitude of collaboration possibilities across SAIC, the city of Chicago and beyond, as well as many opportunities to engage "experts" in the field as part of the experiential learning environment.
