Master of Arts in Arts Administration and Policy: Program Updates
SAIC's Master of Arts (MA) in Arts Administration and Policy program has launched a new curricular development in fall 2013.
MA in Arts Administration and Policy's new Management Studio is a project-based environment that provides opportunities for engaging in the management practices that are vital to professional success. Projects range in scope, scale, pace, and goals and are determined through a combination of student-driven selection, faculty teaching goals, and network development across SAIC, locally, nationally, and internationally.
- Build skills in the areas of marketing, organizational management, project management, and fundraising.
- Develop individual strategies and approaches to managing change and adapting to unique challenges; supporting and engaging creativity; leading complex environments; and building and understanding networks and connectivity.
The Management Studio occurs over the course of three semesters for a total of 9 credits. Project environments move in and out of the classroom, and the organizational structure is adaptive to each particular project. There is also a multitude of collaboration possibilities across SAIC, the city of Chicago and beyond, as well as many opportunities to engage "experts" in the field as part of the experiential learning environment.
