Visiting Artist: Lynne Tillman



Lynne Tillman writes novels, short stories, and essays. Her novels include Haunted Houses, No Lease on Life, which was a finalist for a National Book Critics Circle Award, and American Genius, A Comedy. Two of her story collections are The Madame Realism Complex and Someday This Will Be Funny. Tillman frequently writes stories for artists' books, including those of Barbara Kruger, Liz Deschenes, Justine Kurland, and fictions and essays for museum catalogues, such as Cindy Sherman, in the Broad Museum catalogue (2015). Her nonfiction books include The Velvet Years: Warhol's Factory 1965–67, and her second book of essays What Would Lynne Tillman Do? was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award in Criticism. Tillman writes a column for Frieze art magazine, and received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2006. She was a fiction editor of Fence magazine, and is on the board of directors of Triple Canopy. Her sixth novel Men and Apparitions will appear in 2017.
