SAIC and the Fulbright Fellowship: A Milestone for Art Schools

Are you considering studying abroad after your degree at SAIC? With SAIC students’ long-standing experience with the Fulbright Fellowship program, the Career + Co-Op  Center can guide you through the application process. We spoke to Nancy Gildart, Assistant Director of the Career + Co-Op Center, about the Fulbright Fellowship and how they assist Grads with their applications:

“Since 1981, 47 SAIC students have won U.S. Student Fulbright fellowships – this makes us the top-producing art school. As the Fulbright Program Advisor for SAIC, I am proud of how our students embrace the mission of the Fulbright program through their projects. I work with graduate and undergraduate students as well as alumni who are applying for the U.S. Student Fulbright program. At this moment, candidates are preparing to apply for academic year 2016 – 17 and will be submitting their application essays to me in mid-September, meeting with a faculty review panel in late September/early October and ultimately submitting their applications to Fulbright in mid-October. I advise students on their proposals during spring and summer, helping them develop and hone their ideas as well as giving advice on presenting their plans in a clear and persuasive way. The Fulbright “season” begins each year at the end of March. I’ve scheduled an information session for Wednesday, April 6 from 12:15 – 1 p.m. If you are a U.S. citizen you are eligible to apply.”
