Please join us to celebrate the extraordinary life and spirit of Brian Torrey Scott. Friends, family, colleagues, and students will gather together to honor and remember Brian on February 1, 2014.
Brian Torrey Scott—writer, director, performer, filmmaker, and teacher—was an alumnus of the Master of Fine Arts in Writing program, and a part-time faculty member from 2003–10, he had an enormous impact on his peers, students, other faculty, and staff within our community. While in Chicago—a city Scott greatly loved—he directed and wrote more than 15 plays and performances. He has collaborated with groups such as the Curious Theatre Branch, Goat Island, Lucky Pierre, Weather Talking, and Every House Has a Door, and he has worked closely with artists such as Jeff Harms, Mary Walling Blackburn, Matthew Goulish, Lin Hixson, and many others.
Scott continued pursuing his passions until he passed on November 29; he was working toward a PhD in Theatre and Performance Studies at Brown University and was getting ready for the release of his first book, Green Candle (published by Snail Press, released January 16, 2014).
