Marcia Lausen is founder of the Chicago office of Studio/lab and Director of the School of Art and Design at the University of Illinois at Chicago. At Studio/lab Marcia and her colleagues integrate practices in identity, information, and environmental graphic design. At UIC Marcia teaches graduate and undergraduate students preparing for professional careers in design education, research, and practice. A cofounder the election design program of AIGA Design for Democracy, Marcia's book Design for Democracy: Ballot + Election Design was published in 2007 by the University of Chicago Press. She was named a 2004 FastCompany Master of Design.
