Visual Communication Design: News and Events
Wednesday, September 30, 4:30 p.m.
MacLean Center, 112 S. Michigan Ave., room 1307
A public presentation by Geoffrey Alan Rhodes, Assistant Professor.
Presented as part of his Contract Review toward Tenure in the Department of Visual Communication Design.
In this presentation, Rhodes will excavate a history of media illusions through the lens of his own work... Magic, the moving picture, iPhone Augmented Reality, virtual museums, mediation as real and virtual caves: an exploration of novelty in media art.
Geoffrey Alan Rhodes is a writer, artist, and film maker. He works across disciplines to challenge borders between the real and virtual, the cinematic and actual, fine art and popular experience. His films and video installations have shown at the Tribeca, Sarajevo, and Moscow International Film Festivals. His Augmented Reality performances and publications have created virtual public sculptures, a screenplay that talks to you, animated costumes and media embedded objects.
