Michelle Bowers, Assistant Professor in the College of Visual and Performing Arts at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, describes her work using found imagery and discarded books as "working in the lines and in the margins of another individual's published work, collaborating and conspiring with the original content to create a new, redefined interpretation." The outcomes of this exploration have been published by the American Institute of Graphic Arts, the Type Director's Club, and included in Graphic Design: The New Basics and Introduction to Graphic Design Research Methodologies and Processes.
