Henk van Assen is founding principal of HvAD, a multidisciplinary design studio in New York City. van Assen has worked on many projects in print, environmental, and screen-based media. Clients include Abrams, NY; Rizzoli, NY; Malba, Buenos Aires; the GeGo Foundation, Caracas; the Guggenheim Museum, NY; the Museum of the City of New York; the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; FotoFest, Houston; the New York Public Library; and the Museum of Arts and Design, NY. His work has been recognized by the AIGA, AAUP, and the New York Book Show. In addition to his studio practice, van Assen is a senior critic in graphic design at Yale University. Additionally, he has lectured internationally, most recently in Mexico, China, and Serbia. He co-authored, with Daniel M. Olsen, Ranch Gates of the Southwest (Trinity Press, 2009).
