Colloquium: Robert Dick

Thursday, October 31, 4:15 p.m.
MacLean Center, 112 S. Michigan Ave., room 522

Robert Dick will describe his creative journey from classical flutist to innovative composer/performer and illustrate his talk with performances of several of his works for solo flute. The acknowledged master of the contemporary flute, Dick has written the books used worldwide by composers and flutists seeking to expand their musical visions of the flute, and has composed seminal works that have defined the 20th- and 21st-century flute. He has contributed to the flute's continuing evolution and has invented the Glissando Headjoint®, the "whammy bar" for the flute.
