Graduate Lecture Series: Molly Barnes

Thursday, February 16, 12:15 p.m.
Columbus Building, 280 S. Columbus Dr., room 317

Molly Barnes, born and raised in the hills of Tennessee, received her BFA in Painting from Mississippi State University. Having sewn quilts since childhood, she explores the connections between the histories of quilting and painting as well as the overlap between domestic and artistic labor. The quilts and drawings she makes are informed by the patterns of traditional American quilts. Her practice includes studio work as well as participating in the tradition of making quilts as gifts. She is currently a second year graduate student in the Painting and Drawing Department at SAIC.
