If you are a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) student at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) looking to concentrate your studies in the Printmedia department, experience in drawing and two-dimensional problem solving, color theory, and basic knowledge in photography and computers are a good foundation for your studies.

Each semester, the department offers beginning, intermediate, and advanced courses in:

  • Etching
  • Relief
  • Lithography
  • Screen-printing
  • Offset productions (high-speed printing)
  • Artists' books
  • Photomechanical processes
  • Computer-generated imagery and digital printing

The department also offers both beginning- and advanced-level multidisciplinary studio classes, which encourage you to broaden the known and accepted concepts of printmedia.
