Jessica Hemmings writes about textiles. She also writes about fiction that contains textiles, materials that remind us of textiles, and other things, as long as they are interesting. Jessica studied textile design at RISD (BFA), postcolonial literature at the School of Oriental and African Studies (MA) and the University of Edinburgh (PhD). She has taught at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, the Rhode Island School of Design, Winchester School of Art and Edinburgh College of Art. Recent books include In the Loop: Knitting Now (Black Dog: 2010), The Textile Reader (Berg: 2012) and Warp & Weft: Woven Textiles in Interiors, Art & Fashion (A&C Black: 2012). She is currently Professor of Visual Culture at the National College of Art and Design, Dublin.
