Errol van de Werdt & Hebe Verstappen
Lecture by TextielLab and TextielMuseum

Thursday, March 17, 2016, 12:15 p.m.
The LeRoy Neiman Center, 37 S. Wabash Ave., ground floor

TextielLab's Hebe Verstappen and TextielMuseum's Errol van de Werdt, from Tilburg, Netherlands, showcase the unique center and museum. The TextielLab combines a specialized workshop for the manufacture of unique fabrics and an open studio where innovation is central. It focuses primarily on expanding design, fashion, and art with industrial scale technology. Product developers and technical experts guide national and international designers, architects, artists and students from the lab to discover the endless possibilities of yarn, computer-controlled techniques and craftsmanship. At the TextielMuseum, research, study, and exhibitions place emphasis on crossovers between different disciplines such as design, art, fashion, and architecture. The museum collection and archives hold centuries of accumulated knowledge on crafts, material techniques, patterns, and dyes. These are a starting point for a deliberate link between past and present. This lecture is free and open to the public.

Presented as a part of the The Shapiro Center Week++ of Research Symposium

Sponsored in partnership with the William Bronson and Grayce Slovet Mitchell Lectureship in Fiber and Material Studies
