Baker will discuss his current and past research, including an emerging body of work that examines the incalculable quantity of images we create and the machines we employ to watch them. Q&A to follow.
Christopher Baker is a Chicago-based artist, engineer and educator whose work engages the rich collection of social, technological and ideological networks present in the urban landscape. Currently, his collaborative research practice integrates computational photography, robotics, satellite chasing and handwriting on a city scale. Baker's work has been exhibited and reviewed internationally and is part of the permanent collection at the Saatchi Gallery in London. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Art and Technology Studies Department at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where he was recently named Full-Time faculty of the Year.
