The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) offers academically rich art education programs that support the development of educators as critical citizens and researchers, creators, and community activists.

Our programs focus on a core set of elements:

  • Context and community
  • Knowledge and experience
  • Critical thought and reflection
  • Practice and evaluation

These four elements support all parts of our art education and teacher preparation programs. They are integrated throughout the curriculum including studio, art history, liberal arts, and professional education classes and seminars and preclinical and clinical teaching experiences.
