Thomas Thwaites: Design, Science, and the Naive Observer (and toasters)

Monday, October 28, 12:00–1:00 p.m.
Sullivan Center, 36 S. Wabash Ave., room 1226

Speculative designer and Royal College of Art Design Interactions graduate Thomas Thwaites investigates the stories, trends, fictions, and beliefs which shape technology, science, economics, and ourselves. He will discuss playing the naïve observer as a designer/artist working with highly technical people and the niche that exists between business, futures, science, art, and design. His first book, The Toaster Project, is published by Princeton Architectural Press, attracting critical acclaim and has now been translated in to Japanese and Korean editions.
